We are participating in the screening program “In-dividual Theater: BUG Screen Week 2026” at BUG.
BUG, operated by Recruit Holdings Co., Ltd., is pleased to present In-dividual Theater: BUG Screen Week 2026, opening Friday, July 3, 2026. This program screens video works by 17 artists selected by the BUG staff, representing a new framework for supporting artists’ careers.
Statement
Every day, 1.26 million people pass through Tokyo Station — bodies in transit, moving with purpose through a space that barely permits a sideways glance, let alone a pause. Tasks accumulate; the day presses forward. Who has time to stop?
BUG sits right beside that station, on the ground floor of an office tower. Here, unlike the concourse outside, you are welcome to sit down — and there is no admission fee.
That said, there is no guarantee that watching a single video work will change anything. But the possibility exists. And that is what we are placing our faith in. An encounter with a value system encountered for the first time; an event that lay just beyond the edge of one’s awareness; an emotion that had been sleeping somewhere deep inside. The act of chewing over what you have seen here. Turning thoughts over. Attempting to recover a sense of your own outline. Training your eyes on what is happening in society. Imagining the context behind behavior you cannot understand. Struggling to change something — and finding the strength to resist.
Timeline
*No reservations required. Each screening is a separate session — latecomers may not be admitted once a screening has begun.
